Sophie's Sheroes: Marsha P. Johnson
Believed to have thrown the first glass that started the Stonewall riots, Marsha’s actions began the gay liberation movement and creation of the LGBT organisations that followed. Marsha intersectionality as an african american, a self defined drag queen, and someone with flamboyant gender expression, meant that like many trans identified people of colour, she faced prejudice from many institutions.
